Copyrights

Our Copyright Practice treats copyrights as an integral part of a business intellectual property portfolio. Even when a certain asset is already entitled to protection under patent or trademark law, it may also be entitled to protection under copyright law. If patent and trademark protections are not available, or have expired, copyright protection may still be available or continue to be valid and enforceable.

We assist our clients with registering copyrights, expediting applications, recording documents, performing title searches, and with all phases of litigation both in Puerto Rico and at the Federal levels.

Our Copyright Practice is proud to have attorneys who have been recognized by Chambers and Partners Global 2015 as part of our team. Our practitioners frequently give seminars to both peers and private companies on the importance of protecting copyright assets as part of a broader business strategy.

The Copyright group at Ferraiuoli works alongside our clients to render opinions on copyrightability, fair use, infringement, ownership and title, foreign protection, and litigation. The Group also assists clients in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements involving copyrighted works, including licensing.

We have represented clients before the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico to enforce their respective copyrights when an amicable solution is not available.
